The Old Railroad Bridge Located In Sheffield, AL

The Shoals in Alabama is composed of four cities: Florence, Sheffield, Muscle Shoals, and Tuscumbia. When it was first built, it served the entire area as a connector and crossed the Tennessee River. The location was originally used as a river crossing by Native Americans, including Cherokee, Creek and Chickasaw to connect to other trails that went as far as modern-day Nashville to the north and New Orleans to the south. Around 1819, the Florence Ferry was established in the area, with a bridge finally being built in 1840. The original bridge was a primitive (although high-tech for the time) structure of eight wooden trusses on rock piers anchored into the bedrock. After facing a series of natural disasters, the bridge was rebuilt in 1860, but burnt by Confederate Colonel Helm on the orders of General Albert Johnston in 1862 during the Civil War, cutting the citizens of the Florence area off from the outside world. In the late 1880s-1890s, the bridge was rebuilt and renamed the Old Railroad Bridge, and used well into the 1939, when a separate bridge was built. Falling into disarray, the bridge’s future was uncertain until government leaders decided to restore the part of the bridge still anchored in Sheffield, AL.

    Love this shirt

I have all 3 colors of this shirt and love wearing them when I'm traveling other places to promote my hometown. I'm proud to be from the Shoals Area! I have found that these are more of a men's cut (slim thru the hip area) - even the tee shirts that are definitely for WOMEN. I'm normally a small in womens shirts, 36b chest, medium in pants (hour glass shape) and the large is what fits me best in these since I don't want them tight and clinging to my hip/stomach area. These are very nice quality shirts - I have a wide variety of the different ones I've bought since I discovered Hometown Heritage. The Crimson Tide Jeep one is my FAVORITE - wish they'd get more in stock so I could buy a backup one lol but I'm glad to have the one that I have.
